Colorado READ Teacher Training

Purpose: Colorado school districts must annually ensure that all K-3 teachers, as defined by the READ Act and Rule, have completed evidence-based training in teaching reading as a result of changes to the Colorado READ Act in SB 19-199. To receive per-pupil intervention money, LEPs must submit evidence to the department that each teacher has completed the training by reporting the training option each individual teacher has completed.

This report can be located by going into Payroll Processing to State and Federal Reporting.

 

Three new fields were added into the program for this report. You can locate them as follows:

Go to Human Resource Folder to the Add, Change Employee Data View. 

Put a check mark in the “Other” option at the top in order to view “Additional State Reporting Fields”.

The three fields added for this report are:

    Primary Grade Level

    Teacher Training Status

    Teacher Training Not Complete Status Code

 

 

Another way to access those three fields, if you prefer the horizontal view,  is to go into the Employee Horizontal Change View.

Select SR Colorado HR Employee SR 1 view.  In First field to Edit, scroll to Primary Grade Level.

 

 

Data Elements for Staff’s Primary K-3 Grade Level: (Most classes/Most Time)

000 - Administrative/Multiple Grade Levels

007 – Kindergarten

010 – First Grade

020 – Second Grade

030 – Thirid Grade

 

 

 

 

 

Data Elements for Teacher Training Status:

10 - Yes, evidence has been submitted confirming the completion of a CDE approved, evidence-based training in teaching reading and passing the end of course assessment.

12 - No, this educator did not complete the training as they were newly hired after the required deadline.

13 - No, this educator did not complete the training due to another reason other than being newly hired. (Note that usage of this code should be very limited and over-use will cause an error.)

 

 

Data Elements for Staff’s Teacher Training Not Complete Status Code: Required for any educator who is coded as a 13 in the above data element.  Please select the reason for why the educator has not completed training.

01 – Human Resources Leave of Absence

02 – Medical FMLA

03 – Natural Disasters

04 – Did Not Complete

 

Do you want a code list drop down for those fields? 

 

Go into Administrative Utilities Folder to Master Code Field Definition.

Select Table: Employee_SR_1   Field to be Coded:  Primary Grade Level

1.  Put the radio button into “Coded”.

2.  In Code: box Add 000

3.  In Description, Add Administrative/Multiple Grade Levels (or however you want to word it.  The code is the part that gets submitted to the state)

4.  Click the “Save/Add Code Table Entry” diskette to add to list

5.  Repeat with the remainder of Primary Grade Level codes.

6.  When done, choose the other fields to code and repeat.
