Hardware Requirements (Spec Sheet)

Below is a basic list of Hardware Requirements for your school. These requirements may vary depending on the size of your school and your particular setup. If you have any hardware questions SDS can refer you to a hardware consultant. During the SDS install process, SDS will require remote access to your server.

Web Server must have the following:

Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022, installed with the Desktop Experience option.  The server should meet or exceed the recommended specs for running Windows O/S.  If your database is SQL Server you must use Windows Server 2019 or 2022.Minimum of 256MB available RAM; 500MB available RAM for schools of 100 or more SDS web users.

For faster system performance SSD or 15k rpm SCSI or SSD drives are recommended.

For Virtual servers, a minimum of 2 processors; 4 or more processors is recommended.

•Your database (sdsxplan.mdb or sdsxfin.mdb) must be on the web server.   The database can reside on any physical drive.

•Files to run Web Office will require approximately 2 GB on the C: drive of the server.

Secured Socket Layer (SSL)
Secured Socket Layer (SSL) is part of your purchase if you are hosting with SDS.  If you host your own SDS site you are responsible for purchasing and adding an SSL certificate to your site.

Virtual Machine Software
Clients opting to run “virtualized” servers must meet and/or exceed the hardware specifications for the SDS Finance and Student WEB Systems. Due to the nature of Virtual Machine Software and its utilization of server resources, the SDS systems must be provided with the required resources detailed in our HW specs to operate to the client’s and SDS’s satisfaction.
